Taiwan International Poster Design Award 2007

The China Productivity Center has announced "Humanitarian Concern" as the special theme for the third Taiwan International Poster Design Award 2007.

Organised by the China Productivity Center and jointly presented by The Graphic Design Association of Taiwan(GDA-Taiwan), Taiwan Graphic Design Association(TGDA), Taiwan Poster Design Association(TPDA) and the Kaohsiung Creators Association(KCA), the award scheme is endorsed by Icograda and supported by the Japan Graphic Designers Association Inc. (JAGDA). The competition is open to designers from all regions and countries.

Design Categories
In addition to the special theme "Humanitarian Concern", work may also be submitted in the Commercial and Promotional category. While there is no date restriction for work submitted in the special theme category, work submitted in the Commercial and Promotional category must have been created after 1 January 2005.

Awards
A. Grand Prize(1 person): USD $10,000
B. Icograda Excellence Award(1 person): USD $5,000
C. Jagda Excellence Award(1 person): USD $5,000
D. Special topic and open category(Two categories with three types):
Gold medal(1 person each): USD $3,000
Silver medal(1 person each): USD $2,000
Bronze medal(1 person each): USD $1,000
E. Judges' special award(each judge may select one person): medal or certificate.

Awards are granted in accordance with the regulations of the host country; taxes shall be withheld in accordance with tax law: 20% for foreign winners, 15% for Taiwan residents.

Translations in Tupperware® Global Design Contest

The third annual Translations in Tupperware® Global Design Contest invites consumers and designers from around the world to create a piece of art or unique functional product inspired by Tupperware®. Channel your inner artist and create a Tupperware-inspired work of art that could send you and your masterpiece to New York City! Inspiration may come from a sculpture, in the form of a painting, a functional product or a fabulous pair of shoes. All entrants are encouraged to produce original pieces that take Tupperware out of the kitchen and into the art gallery.



Applicants will compete for the chance to win a trip to New York City and a $2,000 cash prize.

Deadline for submissions is August 31st, 2007.

The top entrant and one runner up entrant from each participating country will be selected by local Tupperware contest directors in each market.

The top entrant from each country then automatically moves forward for the Global Judging Event where one winner will be determined from each of the following categories:


• Fashion
• Utility Objects
• Free Form

The three winners will be determined by the esteemed panel of judges.

Japan Media Arts Festival

The 11th annual Japan Media Arts Festival is now open for international entries. This year the festival is launching an “Open Form,” where the public can recommend works that they believe deserve recognition. Other traditional categories include the broad subjects of “art (which includes Web works), entertainment (which also includes Web works), animation, and manga.”

One Grand Prize, four Prizes for Excellence and one EncouragementPrize are Awarded in recognition of works of outstanding artistry and creativity in each division. Based on the recommendations of the Jury, Special Achievement Prizes may also be presented to artists who have made significant contributions to the field of media arts.

The Eco Prize 2007 for Creativity

The Eco Prize is awarded for a creative work which positively and imaginatively inspires people to be environmentally-friendly and adopt greener lifestyles. There are two categories of award: Established Talent and Emerging Talent. The prize in each category is £1,000.

The Prize is made by the Eco Trust, a charitable trust which supports creativity and the environment. In 2007, the Prize is funded by our principal funder, Sust., the Lighthouse on Sustainability, by our contributory funder, the Loch Fyne Oysters Trust, and by the Russell Trust. We gratefully acknowledge our funders financial support.

In 2007 it is being run in association with Friends of the Earth Scotland, one of Scotland’s leading environmental organisations, and The Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Architecture, Design and the City, and the hub for the creative industries in Scotland.

IQONS x NIKEiD Sports Clothing Design Competition

IQONS x NIKEiD is a design competition to challenge athletes and sport clothing connoisseurs to explore their creativity, and push fashion designers and fans to apply their talents to athletic fashion. To participate, IQONS members submit designs from the NIKEiD website (www.nikeid.com). Designs will be uploaded to an area on iqons.com where members and the general public can rate the submissions and comment on favorites.



Each month, the design rated highest by IQONS members will be given to its designer, courtesy of NIKE. Additionally, one randomly selected commenter will receive the design they’ve rated highest.

Creative Behind The Lens Call for Entries

Corbis, in association with Creative Review, has opened a photography competition. Enter up to three, previously unpublished photographs into this photo contest to be judged by a panel of leading industry professionals. Winners will be judged on creativity and originality of photograph and those chosen will be shown at an exhibition in London as well as feature in Creative Review. Plus, the very best entry will win two flights to New York. There are no categories and no set briefs… just you, your camera and your imagination!

YOUTUBE ON THE RAP RISE EDITION 2007

Are you a real emcee that turns the party out? - This is your call to arms. YouTube is seeking all emcees out there looking for the key to the kingdom. If you create real-deal top-shelf ORIGINAL rhymes and beats and have this year's sizzlin' video to match, then we have the goods right here. This is the first-ever YouTube rap video contest, judged by none other than 50 Cent, Common, and Polow Da Don. Submission starts : 10 August 2007. The final winner will be announced September 7.


The winner will be awarded a trip to New York City to professionally record a single for G-Unit/Interscope Records, a $10,000 gift card from Guitar Center, and their video will be featured on the homepage of YouTube.




  • The top 20 videos from all submissions will be chosen by 50 Cent, Common, and Polow Da Don.

DESIGN EVENT

Design Event is an annual UK festival showcasing cutting edge work from designers across all disciplines.

Design Event's next edition - DE07 - takes place in Newcastle, Gateshead from 11-28 October 2007, and film & new media curators Cinefeel are currently putting together a video programme for screening at the Baltic Contemporary Arts Centre.

Cinefeel are inviting filmmakers and animators to send in work which has something to say on the subject of this year's DE07 theme of "How do we want to live?".

From the work screened in the programme, the organisers and festival partners will choose an overall winner who'll receive a £500 cash prize and the winning piece will be profiled on the site of DE07's media partner E-CR (the downloadable edition of Creative Review).
